Introduction
Ensuring the quality and accuracy of your scans is crucial to the scan - blockmodel conformation process. Below, the detailed guidelines are listed to help you prepare your scans appropriately for efficient ingestion and processing.
1. File Formats
Accepted Formats: Ensure your scans are saved as one of the following formats
.csv
,.txt
,.dxf
,.str
,.laz
, or.las
.Excluded Formats: Please refrain from using any software-specific formats i.e
.msr

2. One Topography Scan Per File
Guideline: Your submitted file should only contain one topography scan. Including multiple scans in a single file hampers the automation process.

3. Full Stockpile Scan Per File
Guideline: Each scan you submit should fully cover the stockpile, regardless of any material movement.
Reference: For reference, consult Appendix B, Examples 1 & 2 for scans that don't cover the entire stockpile.

4. Single Surface Scan Per File
Guideline: Ensure that your file only contains the current surface scan. The inclusion of previous scans or underlying bench topography in the same file is not acceptable.
Reference: Check out Appendix B, Example 3 for a file containing multiple scans.

5. Consistent X and Y Range; Fixed Minimum Z Value
Guideline: For a particular stockpile, the XY area covered by the scan should remain consistent across different scans. While the minimum Z value must remain fixed, the maximum Z value can vary between files.

6. File Naming Convention
Guideline: Your file name should clearly and uniquely identify the scan's date, time, and the stockpile's name. While we accept various date/hour formats, maintain consistency across all files.

— This file represents scans for multiple stockpiles (STOCKPILE_A, STOCKPILE_B, STOCKPILE_C, etc) dated 2020-01-13 at 10:30:00 UTC time.Example:

— This file denotes scans for multiple stockpiles (STOCKPILE_E, STOCKPILE_F, etc) dated 2022-10-28 at 19:48:00 UTC time.

7. Consistent Grid and Origin for Stockpiles
Guideline: To ensure the accurate reconciliation of models and scans, each stockpile should have a consistent grid and origin between scans. Even small offsets in X and Y can create discrepancies.

8. Scan Resolution
Guideline: The spatial resolution of your scan should exceed the resolution you intend to convert it to. For instance, if we're to generate block models with a resolution of 5.0m, we'd expect scans to possess more points than a 5.0m resolution. However, 5cm resolution scans might not be optimal due to storage and processing requirements.
File Size Limit: We accept scans up to a maximum size of 1.5GB.
